Thank you Stevi. I too have washed tulle. But over time, this seemed to be less effective. I think whatever they use to stiffen is stronger than it used to be. I got the idea of the boiled water bath from the method to straight doll hair. It softens the tulle somewhat but not as much as I'd like. Wow, niesamowite suknie. It is soft, drape more smoothly over the body but is expensive. Hang it up to dry. Turn the item inside out, and place it in a Mesh Washing Bag.
Wash with Sport Detergent on the normal cycle with hot water to achieve the deepest clean. Wash with like colors and fabrics only. For especially sweaty, dirty, or musty items, add 2 capfuls of All-Purpose Bleach Alternative to the wash. Depending on the fabric and embellishments, wedding dresses can be washed in a washer, a dryer, or by hand. If your dress is fairly simple and the fabric can take it, you can put your dress in a garment bag or duvet and stick it in your washer on a gentle cycle.
A top laundry expert taught us the proper way to wash a wedding veil. Lace items can get tangled, ripped, stretched or unraveled when jostled around together in a washing machine. It's best to hand-wash all lace items separately with cold water and a gentle detergent.
Do not bleach, dry clean or scrub tulle. Never expose tulle to high temperatures; heat will melt the material. Fill a cup with a few tablespoons of hot water and pour the bleach into it.
