I suggest that you can wait until you can get to a nail salon where they can shorten the nails and seal the edges properly with a gel topcoat. If you file your nails short without resealing the exposed edges, you will run the risk of gel polish peeling or lifting prematurely.
Keep in mind though if you have your gel manicure done at a nail salon, it will not be responsible to fix any gel polish peeling or chipping issues associated with your nails if you cut them short yourself.
