When was dark side of the moon recorded

March 17 and 24 are the official dates from Capitol Records. Odd, at any rate, that both the 17th and 24th fell on Saturdays in ! Actually, at the time of its first public performance, the entire piece was called "Eclipse.

The band's first cohesive "concept album," "Dark Side" deals with the notion of how everyday pressures of modern life can lead to madness. Voices Interspersed throughout, are seemingly random bits of dialogue, sometimes mixed practically below the threshold of consciousness. The snippets come from a series of unrehearsed interviews the band conducted with people who happened to be at EMI's Abbey Road studio at the time.

Musicians, roadies, even the doorman of the facility, were set down in front of a mic and shown flash cards with questions like, "When was the last time you were violent? The maniacal laughter came from Roger the Hat , a road manager of another band, while it was doorman Jerry Driscoll who provided the parting shot on the album, saying, "There is no dark side of the moon, really. With only available in the world, this incredibly rare, limited edition folio makes for a perfect collector's item for any Pink Floyd and Abbey Road fan.

The largest purpose-built recording studio in the world, we take a brief look at the history of the legendary Studio One. Once devoted purely to the recording of classical music, this space has now played host to the scores of some of Hollywood's biggest blockbuster movies, including the Harry Potter, Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings series.

How an elegant sixteen-room, three-story town house built in changed the course of music history forever, the ripples of which are still unquestionably strong, inspiring and infectious. It saw the Chicago rapper teaming up with a piece all-female string orchestra for an ambitious concert that featured expanded and reimagined takes of his biggest tracks of the time, and may be one of the most well-known instances of hip hop and classical music coming together.

These reverted to their original form by the time of the SACD release. Post editions includes Torry's name next to Wright's, in recognition of her contributions to "The Great Gig In The Sky", the aftermath of a court settlement. Now that there's computers, " On the Run " can now be feasibly played by only a single person or a touch of the play button, but in the 70's though, it required the whole band adjusting specific knobs at specific times.

Alan Parsons added a crossfade for the remastering. Before the official release, the band was playing a more traditional version of "On the Run", which was called "The Travel Section". People have suggested on most CD pressings, a barely-audible orchestral version of The Beatles' "Ticket to Ride" is audible after "Eclipse", playing very faintly in the left channel over the closing heartbeats.

On previous efforts, Pink Floyd had delved into crafting long, drawn-out musical suites — perhaps most notably on their album Meddle, which included the minute long epic Echoes. Over the next year, the band toured extensively across Europe, Japan and the US during which they crafted tracks such as Breathe and On The Run — albeit featuring very different arrangements to their final recordings, and by early , Pink Floyd were ready to record.

The band chose the world-renowned studio as it was home to, at the time, some of the most advanced recording technology ever produced — including the EMI TG mixing console. In contrast to the 8 and even 4-track recording systems Pink Floyd had used in past, the EMI TG was able to work with up to 16 different tracks at once. This whole new arsenal of potential tracks opened many doors for the band; it not only meant that they could inject more instruments and sound effects into their songs, but they could also experiment with double-tracking vocals and guitar lines, greatly enhancing their already outstanding ability to create lush soundscapes.

One of the hallmark qualities of the LP is the way the tracks bleed into each other, with Parsons opting to execute this in a rather unconventional method.

Instead of editing the tracks during the final mastering process, Parsons performed the edits right onto the master recording, carefully arranging the pieces of the musical puzzle and splicing the tapes together. They arguably were the most technically minded band out there.
